About The Position

Join Fraser Health as a strategic leader advancing excellence in Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR). As the Lead, Quality Assurance – Medical Device Reprocessing (Acute & Community), you will provide regional oversight and leadership for Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) across acute Operating Rooms, Community Clinics, and MDR sites. You’ll champion best‑practice standards, support Ministry of Health audit readiness, and lead MDR accreditation in collaboration with clinical and operational partners. This full-time role is based at the Langley Fulfillment Centre in Langley, BC, with travel across the Fraser Health region as needed. Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized bachelor's degree program in nursing or relevant health related discipline plus specialty courses and/or certification in Medical Device Reprocessing or Infection Control; plus seven (7) years related Surgical Operating Room or MDR Quality Assurance experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License plus access to a vehicle for business-related purposes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of reprocessing and infection control principles, methods, and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead effectively in a highly dynamic environment and to facilitate multidisciplinary groups in a collaborative framework.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant MDR standards including best practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement principles, and Operating Room standards.
  • Demonstrated change management and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Accreditation processes and MOH audit principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and analyze systems, protocols and processes.
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers (PCs) and office software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and oversees the region-wide strategic implementation, integration and evaluation of MDR Quality Assurance standards, protocols, processes and change initiatives. Evaluates outcomes and develops metrics and reports to monitor improvement initiatives on an on-going basis.
  • In collaboration with stakeholders (i.e. Directors, MDR Managers, Infection Prevention & Control, Clinical Quality & Strategic Priorities, Performance & Accreditation) , ensures the ongoing review and evaluation of strategies, systems, programs and outcomes are consistent with MDR best practices and Quality Assurance standards in alignment with Fraser Health’s strategic plan.
  • Accountable to identify critical issues and outcomes necessary to achieve short, medium and long-term MDR strategies and Quality Assurance criteria and objectives. Provides advice and recommendations to MDR Leadership on matters related to the development and implementation of department goals, objectives, policies, practices, systems and standards related to the continuous improvement of MDR integrated quality improvement and measurement systems across Fraser Health.
  • Identifies learning needs of teams related to MDR Quality Initiatives
  • Ensures clinical Quality Assurance standards, policies and practices are adhered to regarding renovations and equipment upgrades at MDR sites.
  • Oversees, coordinates and monitors MDR MOH audits of standards, practices and guidelines for all MDR sites across Fraser Health. Leads the follow-up and implementation of Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement processes including the development and implementation of new or revised policies, standards and processes.
  • Provides leadership, oversight and follow-up of the MDR Accreditation process Fraser Health-wide. Works in close collaboration with Quality Performance and Accreditation in the review of findings; leads the development and/or revision of policies and the implementation of mitigation processes. Works in close collaboration with the Surgical Directors and MDR Managers as required/appropriate.
  • In collaboration with QA and QI Coordinators and MDR Leadership, formulates recommendations related to the continuous improvement of MDR integrated QI and measurement systems; develops, implements, and evaluates measurable objectives for MDR Quality Assurance programs utilizing continuous improvement principles and criteria. Promotes and facilitates continuous improvement research.
  • With site MDR teams, identifies local QI priorities, creates action plans and oversees QI projects at sites. These QI priorities may be technical, educational or cultural initiatives.
  • Acts as an expert clinical resource to MDR leaders regarding Quality Assurance criteria, policies, processes, protocols or standards; responds to MDR issues to internal and external stakeholders and agencies.
  • Prepares reports for MOH based on audit findings; provides reports, statistics, and information related to Quality Assurance for administrative and regulatory requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative partnerships with internal and external services/programs. Participates and/or leads internal and external committees as appropriate, at local, provincial, and national levels.
