(Required) 5 - 7 years of professional clinical research experience and Graduate Medical Education involvement. (Required) Strong skills in writing, editing, and presenting research findings. Ability to work closely with multidisciplinary clinical and academic teams. Job Overview: This position provides expert consultation and assistance to faculty, fellow and resident physicians in all aspects of completing a research study or quality improvement project. This includes research design and protocol development, grant formulation and writing if applicable, data tabulation, statistical analysis, abstract writing and submission, creation of sophisticated poster presentations, and education regarding the research design and statistical analysis utilized in the study. In addition, this position manages numerous projects and is accountable for ensuring the appropriate steps are being taken to keep the project moving in a timely manner. This includes coordination of all necessary paperwork to receive Institutional Review Board - IRB- approval, Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) approval, and/or research funding. This position works closely with the Medical Education Program Director if needed and keeps him/her current on all ongoing staff, resident and fellow research projects. This position is the contact for Medical Education Research Fund (MERF) meetings and Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) representation.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in a scientific or technical discipline (e.g., Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Data Science, Statistics, or related field). (Required)
  • 5 - 7 years of professional clinical research experience and Graduate Medical Education involvement. (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Research and Protocol Development: Designs comprehensive research protocols that meet scientific, ethical, and regulatory standards.
  • Conducts literature reviews to support protocol development and contextualize research findings.
  • Ensure protocols comply with all federal, state, and institutional requirements, while prioritizing patient safety and data confidentiality.
  • Statistical Analysis and Data Management: Applies advanced statistical methods to analyze clinical data.
  • Interprets and validates results to support scientific conclusions.
  • Designs, evaluates, and refines data collection tools to ensure quality and integrity of research data.
  • Audits and scrutinizes datasets for accuracy and completeness.
  • Scholarly Output: Leads or assists in the drafting of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Prepare abstracts, slides, and poster presentations for submission to national and international medical conferences.
  • Ensures all output is professionally prepared and aligned with publication/ presentation standards.
  • Education and Mentorship: Educates residents, fellows, and faculty on research design and statistical analysis techniques.
  • Provides individualized consultation and group training on statistical methods and software use.
  • Project Coordination and Oversight: Manages timelines and ensures proper sequencing of steps in research studies.
  • Coordinates IRB, IACUC, and funding paperwork and communication.
  • Communicates regularly with the Medical Education Program Director regarding project status.
  • Ensures compliance with budgetary and administrative requirements.
  • Oversee the data acquisition process through the IS ticketing system, ensuring requests are accurate, standardized, and support project needs.
  • Provides guidance to junior statisticians on effective data request practices to maintain consistency and data quality across studies.
  • Leadership and Team Support: May lead a team of statisticians or research analysts.
  • Allocates tasks, monitors workload, and conducts or leads team meetings.
  • Professional Development and Innovation: Stays current with new statistical methods, software, and research regulations.
  • Participates in professional activities, such as seminars, post graduate education, journal clubs and special interest groups.
  • Contributes to continuous quality improvement and innovation within the department.
  • Proposes and implement new statistical approaches, processes, or technologies.
