Job Purpose/Overview The Serology Lead Technician assists in the supervision of day-to-day activities within the laboratory unit/group/area/department

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent required, bachelor's degree in science preferred.
  • Prior lab experience preferred
  • Training and teaching skills and ability
  • Proven leadership, motivational and mediating abilities
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and direct work activities
  • Proficiency in all testing and services for training personnel, including setting up, reading, and releasing test results and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Reasoning and analytical skills to resolve issues
  • Solid communication skills- written and verbal
  • Proficiency in the English language which allows for participation in team meetings, accurate entry of data into company systems and understanding of written direction
  • Attention to detail and organized with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive, can-do attitude
  • General personal computer skills
  • Stationary Position- must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 2 hours
  • Constantly operates a computer and other lab equipment accurately and efficiently.
  • Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch
  • Required to lift, move, and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • The ability to observe details at close range
  • Laboratory environments with potential biohazards present that are mitigated by the mandatory use of PPE
  • Potential for exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards. A complete list of such chemicals is available from department supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the supervision of department staff, monitoring activities and evaluating performance
  • Provides coaching and guidance to staff and oversees staff training and development
  • Provides input to department policies and procedures
  • Aids in leading work activities of the department, planning and organizing work, providing adequate staffing and resources, and maintaining work on schedule so that ongoing customer satisfaction is maintained.
  • Perform routine testing
  • Contributes to maintenance of department diagnostic equipment and other technical resources
  • Handles rechecks and verifications within the department.
  • Meets daily production requirements including TAT
  • Resolve pending list
  • Reports any technical problems to the supervisor
  • Maintain organization of storage refrigerator
  • Maintain and ensure all equipment is operational
  • Perform duties of the supervisor in their absence
  • Follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures.
  • Maintains clean and organized work area.
  • Restocks supplies as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
