Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, sustainability, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in EV charging, energy management, or smart grid program execution preferably at the OEM level.
  • Demonstrated success in piloting and scaling customer-facing utility or energy programs.
  • Strong knowledge of managed charging, and demand response, with the ability to translate them into practical execution.
  • Proven ability to manage partner relationships and ensure successful delivery of joint initiatives.
  • Hands-on project management experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar.
  • Customer-first mindset, ensuring all pilots and programs deliver intuitive and reliable experiences.
  • Strong analytical skills to measure program outcomes, identify improvements, and feed insights back into business cases.
  • A starter mentality with the ability to cut through ambiguity, identify top priorities, and move programs forward quickly
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the hands-on execution of Scout’s home and smart charging programs, including managed charging, demand response, and Low Carbon Fuel Standards (LCFS).
  • Pilot new features and programs with utilities, aggregators, and technology providers, ensuring technical integrations and customer experiences are tested and validated before scaling.
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with utility and energy partners nationwide, serving as the primary contact for program operations, issue resolution, and rollout coordination.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on smart charging technologies, grid integration, and energy services.
  • Represent Scout in industry forums, standards bodies, regulatory discussions, and the Rivian VW Tech joint venture with all topics related to smart charging & energy management. Monitor & influence regulatory developments that impact smart charging & grid services.
  • Ensure Scout’s compliance with evolving regulatory requirements & policies relating to energy management.
  • Support the development of business cases and program budgets by providing operational insights, partner feedback, and pilot results.
  • Work with Digital Products, Engineering, and UX/UI teams to define and deliver customer journeys for smart charging features across the Scout mobile app and in-vehicle systems.
  • Build the go-to-market strategy for Scout’s home charging solutions, including bundled offers, installation services, and energy-focused subscription models.
  • Work with the Digital Products and Engineering teams to define and deliver in-app and in-vehicle home charging features, including charge scheduling, energy optimization, and integration with utility programs.
  • Collaborate with third-party installers, energy providers, and technology partners to scale Scout’s home charging ecosystem.
  • Develop KPIs to track adoption of smart charging, customer satisfaction, and energy service enrollment, ensuring alignment to Scout’s broader energy strategy.
  • Benchmark competitive OEM home charging and energy programs, integrating best practices into Scout’s roadmap.
  • Act as a key liaison with regulatory and standards bodies on residential charging, grid interconnection, and bidirectional energy offerings.
  • Coordinate go-to-market execution for smart charging offers, collaborating with Product Marketing and Commercial Ops to launch pilots and scale programs.
  • Track and report on KPIs such as program enrollment, customer participation, energy savings, and feature adoption, ensuring continuous improvements to offerings.
  • Closely manage smart charging projects & integrations to ensure alignment to vehicle milestones and launch timing. Be the key liaison between engineering feature partners to deliver customer requirements.
  • Stay closely connected to regulatory and utility program developments, identifying practical opportunities for Scout to participate in incentives, pilots, and new market opportunities.
  • Benchmark competitor initiatives and industry pilots, bringing best practices back to Scout’s execution playbook.
  • Provide operational support to Customer Support teams by preparing documentation and serving as an escalation point for smart charging program-related issues.
  • Ensure seamless handoff from pilot to scaled rollout by developing repeatable processes, vendor management practices, and customer support frameworks.
