About the position

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and contribute to complex backend platform systems in a fast-growing SaaS environment. You will play a critical part in integrating generative AI tools throughout the software development lifecycle, enhancing productivity and quality across planning, testing, deployment, and operations. As a hands-on technical leader, you will mentor fellow engineers, drive architectural decisions, and set the standard for engineering excellence within a collaborative and innovative team culture focused on delivering reliable, secure, and high-performance software.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain complex backend services with high reliability, security, and performance.
  • Lead major platform initiatives, guiding architectural decisions and execution.
  • Perform self-directed technical spikes and evaluations to inform platform strategy and mitigate risks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve critical production issues using logs, telemetry, and team collaboration.
  • Champion adoption of generative AI tools across all SDLC phases to improve workflows.
  • Mentor and coach engineers to foster technical growth and high ownership.
  • Continuously improve engineering practices such as code reviews, observability, and testing.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of backend software engineering experience, especially with Java and Spring Boot in scalable SaaS platforms.
  • Strong skills designing and implementing REST APIs, with React/TypeScript experience a plus.
  • Hands-on experience using generative AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Devin) in real development work.
  • Expertise troubleshooting complex production issues in distributed systems using telemetry and logs.
  • Proven track record leading technical investigations, spikes, and prototyping efforts.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tooling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proactive and clear in team alignment and decision-making.
  • Passion for mentorship and elevating engineering culture as a technical leader.
