About The Position

The Learning and Learning and Development Specialist leads the design, coordination, and delivery of enterprise learning and development for FNB Academy. This role ensures that all employees receive high-quality, relevant training through classroom instruction, videos, online learning, webinars, and external seminars. Owns learning strategy, curriculum architecture, delivery models, learning technology, facilitator development, evaluation, and partnership with business leaders to close skill gaps, accelerate onboarding, and strengthen leadership and compliance capability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field or equivalent experience in a financial institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of bank experience required.
  • Development & Presentation: Confident in leading workshops, seminars, and virtual training sessions across diverse audiences and preparing the class materials.
  • Needs Assessment: Proficient in analyzing organizational learning gaps and identifying targeted development solutions.
  • Performance Coaching: Capable of providing one-on-one guidance to employees and managers to support growth and performance improvement.
  • Project Management: Able to manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication for clear instruction, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaboration & Influence: Adept at working cross-functionally and gaining buy-in from leadership and teams.
  • Adaptability : Flexible in adjusting training strategies to meet evolving business needs and workforce dynamics.
  • Technology Savvy: Comfortable using digital tools, video conferencing platforms, and software like Canva and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Curriculum and Program Development Create a scalable learning catalog that includes onboarding, role-based training, leadership development, certifications (in current role), continuing education, and microlearning via computer-based delivery.
  • Design and launch key training programs such as New Hire Onboarding, Branch Excellence, Commercial Banker Academy, Credit & Underwriting, Compliance & BSA, Digital Banking, Operational Support Services, and Leadership Essentials.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Training Oversight Ensure mandatory regulatory, AML/BSA, fair lending, privacy, and information security training meets regulatory requirements and is audit ready.
  • Maintain training documentation, completion records, certification cycles, and examiner ready reporting.
  • Facilitator Development and Coaching Train and develop an additional training specialist who will report to the LDS.
  • Recruit and develop an internal facilitator team and subject matter experts through a train-the-trainer program and facilitator playbook.
  • Conduct site visits, observe staff performance, and provide coaching to reinforce learning in sales, service, hospitality, compliance, and operations.
  • Partnership and Growth Management Collaborate with HR and department leaders to identify development needs, build learning plans, and integrate growth into performance conversations.
  • Lead FNB Academy initiatives including communications, adoption campaigns, learning communities, mentoring programs, and recognition efforts.
  • Align learning and development activities with standard operating procedures across all areas of the bank.
  • Measurement and Continuous Improvement Maintain organized records of all learning activities, including agendas, materials, attendance logs, and course details, to support audit and regulatory needs.
  • Conduct site visits to observe performance and provide coaching that reinforces training concepts in sales, service, hospitality, and operations.
  • Establish a system to measure training effectiveness and drive ongoing improvement.
  • Other Duties Perform additional responsibilities necessary to advance FNB Academy and support bank objectives.
