Learning Center Program Activity Leader
About The Position
This position is responsible for facilitating academic and social-emotional learning experiences for students in kindergarten through 5th grade. This includes leading a variety of engaging, hands-on activities such as project-based learning, cooking, gardening, physical education, art, and more. Activity Leaders create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where all students are supported in their growth and development. They build strong, positive relationships with students, families, and community partners to help each child realize their unique path to success.
Requirements
- An understanding of and passion for The Salvation Army’s Mission
- High School Diploma or GED required and must be at least 18 years of age
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to lead and manage small groups of children aged 6 to 13 years old.
- Passion for education, creativity, and community engagement
- Must be reliable, energetic, and committed to helping all students succeed.
- Ability to maintain ODJFS standards for employees and program operation including passing an FBI and BCI fingerprinted background check.
- Ability to obtain and maintain driving privileges per Salvation Army insurance standards (if driving is a requirement)
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with children in educational or youth development settings, preferred
- Current certification in CPR/first aid, preferred.
