Job SummaryThe Learning Consultant supports the academic success and holistic development of students by working collaboratively with teachers, administrators, families, and outside professionals to identify learning needs and implement effective, student-centered support strategies. This role provides expertise in assessment, instructional planning, and intervention to help students with diverse learning profiles thrive academically, socially, and spiritually. In a Catholic school setting, the Learning Consultant integrates compassion, dignity, and faith-based values into all aspects of student support, aligning practices with the mission of Catholic education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Learning Disabilities, School Psychology, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid state teaching certification required; certification in Special Education or Learning Support Services strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with students who have diverse learning needs in a school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of learning disabilities, assessment tools, intervention strategies, and differentiated instruction.
  • Familiarity with developing and supporting learning plans, accommodations, and progress monitoring.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Commitment to the mission, values, and philosophy of Catholic education.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and administrators to identify students experiencing learning challenges or differences.
  • Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate student strengths, needs, and learning styles.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Service Plans (ISPs), learning support plans, or accommodation plans.
  • Provide targeted academic interventions to students individually or in small groups, as appropriate.
  • Support teachers in differentiating instruction, modifying assignments, and implementing accommodations and inclusive practices.
  • Interpret psychoeducational evaluations and assist faculty in translating recommendations into effective classroom strategies.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and outside service providers (e.g., psychologists, therapists, tutors).
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, strategies for home support, and available resources.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, progress monitoring data, and confidential student records in accordance with school and Archdiocesan policies.
  • Participate in student support meetings, parent conferences, professional development, and school meetings.
  • Contribute to a positive, faith-filled school culture that reflects Catholic values, respect for the dignity of each child, and a commitment to inclusion.
