ROLE of the POSITION The Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Urban Journalism. We’re looking for a veteran journalist with experience teaching reporting, in-depth storytelling, urban journalism, and freelance reporting. The School of Journalism and Media Studies has a strong commitment to collaboration and interdisciplinary instruction. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work with other units in the College of Urban Affairs: Communication Studies, Criminal Justice, Public Policy, and Social Work. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching and covering urban issues, such as lifestyles, housing, transportation, homelessness, architecture, public policy and/or tourism. PROFILE of the DEPARTMENT/COLLEGE Housed in the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs, the Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies seeks to embody the public service ideals of Hank Greenspun, the former editor and publisher of the Las Vegas Sun . The School enrolls more than 400 undergraduate and graduate students. Its academic and professional programs emphasize industry-relevant curricula, critical thinking, cultural proficiency and experiential learning. Students can participate in the School’s professional media operations, which include KUNV Public Radio, UNLV TV, and the Rebel Media Group Student Social Media Agency.
