About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Legal Assistant to join our team in our corporate offices in Chattanooga, TN. This office‑based role requires a true team player—someone who works well with others, is willing to step in where needed, and is committed to ensuring the office is appropriately staffed during the workday by coordinating coverage with fellow legal assistants. We are looking for a candidate who is excited and interested in leveraging Enterprise-AI approved tools in their daily work. While the standard hybrid schedule includes three in‑office days, the ideal candidate should be flexible and prepared for occasional weeks requiring additional onsite presence. In this role, you will provide high‑level administrative support to assigned attorney(s), including tracking, scheduling, formatting and preparing contracts, correspondence, and other legal documents. You will also assist with service‑of‑process work, manage mail, and collaborate with the Privacy, Dispute Resolution, and Subrogation divisions as needed. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are essential. Candidates must possess an associate’s degree or equivalent work experience and bring at least four years of experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary in a law firm or corporate legal department. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Equivalent experience is defined as 2 years of professional work experience in a corporate environment.
  • 4 years - Experience as a legal assistant/secretary in a law firm or in the law department of a corporation required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or function in a team environment sharing responsibility, roles and accountability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Interact effectively with BCBST personnel from all areas of the company, as well as members, outside and opposing counsel, and other persons.
  • Perform legal secretarial functions, including preparing documents, answering telephones, maintaining contacts, and filing.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, appointments, and travel.
  • Prepare, edit, format and proofread correspondence, contracts, and other legal documents.
