About The Position

This internship provides hands-on experience in government regulatory practice, policy analysis, and administrative proceedings. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in healthcare law, cannabis regulation, administrative law, or public policy and is eager to gain practical experience in a fast-paced legal environment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of legal procedures and documents
  • Knowledge of the rules of evidence pertinent to field investigations
  • Knowledge of the sources of information used in locating records and persons
  • Knowledge of interviewing techniques
  • Knowledge of legal report writing techniques
  • Knowledge of legal terminology
  • Ability to conduct legal research
  • Ability to prepare materials for use in court
  • Ability to interview witnesses
  • Ability to evaluate, summarize and report results of research
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Completion of eighteen semester hours from an accredited school of law; or completion of an American Bar Association approved legal research assistant program; or completion of a bachelor's degree in legal studies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research related to Oklahoma statutes, administrative rules, and case law
  • Assist with drafting legal memoranda, policy summaries, and internal guidance documents
  • Support attorneys with regulatory compliance analysis and enforcement matters
  • Assist in preparing materials for administrative hearings
  • Track legislative and regulatory developments affecting OMMA operations
  • Review and assist with requests made pursuant to the Oklahoma Open Records Act
  • Attend internal meetings and, when appropriate, observe hearings or proceedings
