About The Position

This Legal Internship is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience in a corporate legal environment. Interns will receive direct mentorship from the General Counsel and Legal team, gain exposure to executive level decision making, and develop practical skills applicable to a legal career. You will be focused on developing the legal research, analytical, and writing skills learned in the first year of law school and applying those skills in an in-house counsel/corporate setting. The Intern will be assigned a variety of projects in many aspects of business operations; including researching and updating company policies and procedures, working with a diverse group of professionals, assisting with revenue-generating and vendor agreements, corporate policies and procedure documents, business continuity plans, third party agreements, license agreements, service agreements, updating and working on copyright registrations, and miscellaneous corporate governance matters and documents. This internship will be 6 weeks long, working 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday during the months of May to June, or June to July. This role will be working on a hybrid work schedule located in downtown Salt Lake City, with at least 2 days a week in the office. The intern will be joining our Legal Department under the direction of our General Counsel.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a juris doctor degree at a top tier law school, 1L students only.
  • Use professional and clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • High quality writing skills, using accurate word usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation in all written correspondence.
  • Ability to conduct legal research and write legal documents with clarity and precision.
  • Ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced, changing environment and maintain a commitment to accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ability to follow policies, procedures, and written instructions, as well as verbal instructions or directions from his/her supervisor.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Regular, timely attendance during assigned work hours, active participation in video meetings (camera/microphone turned on).
  • Normal physical strength to handle routine office materials and tools.
  • Occasional lifting and transporting up to 15 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with legal research, data entry, and maintaining accurate and complete legal records
  • Researching, analyzing, and writing for best practices regarding health information for both domestic and international support.
  • Present research findings and recommendations to members of the Legal team.
  • Providing legal documentation for data privacy, cybersecurity requirements, and business continuity plans.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and strategic planning discussions to gain insight into corporate governance and business operations.
  • Participating in other projects that are established by the Legal team.
