The Richard Elias-Mission Library serves as a vital community hub in Tucson sitting at a meaningful geographic intersection. For many Tohono O’odham and Pascua Yaqui community members, the library is one of the first public buildings encountered when traveling into the city from nearby tribal lands positioning the site as both a gateway and a place of belonging. The surrounding area is also home to generations of Mexican, Mexican American, Black, and African American families, whose histories, traditions, and cultural presence continue to shape the identity, vibrancy, and rhythms of daily life in the region. The Pima County Public Library is seeking a part-time Librarian who is an engaging and customer-service-driven professional. As a member of the service level programming, the hired candidate will support and take a leadership role to engage the Richard Elias-Mission Library community. As a part-time Librarian, you will be part of the library in-charge team, programming team, and front desk services. The hired candidate will also work with intergenerational groups and can demonstrate that they are able to adapt to the changing needs of the community in a mutually supportive work environment. This people-centered leader will empower and mentor staff, embrace change with confidence, and strive to make a lasting, positive impact. The selected individual will play a pivotal role in leading the successful opening of the new building and shaping its future. This position may be required to work rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends.
