The Library Associate – Children’s Services position supports the branch team in creating a welcoming and engaging environment for customers of all ages. Responsibilities include leading programs such as Storytimes, outreach events, art programs, book clubs, and other child-focused activities. This role also represents the library in the community, conducts outreach to schools, daycares, other communities and partners, and collaborates with systemwide teams and Children’s Services staff. Strong programming, outreach, and partnership-building experience are highly desirable. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player and an effective individual contributor. Independent judgment and the ability to work with limited supervision are essential. Additional duties include staffing busy service desks for all ages, providing technology and research assistance, and offering readers’ advisory. A rotating schedule for evenings and weekends is required. Strong technology and computer skills are required. Allegra Westbrooks Regional Library is committed to providing exemplary service for all customers. This position primarily focuses on working with children ages 0-10 years, providing support to school-age children and their parents, and delivering services in a fast-paced environment on the children’s floor. Flexibility, adaptability, and time management skills are essential, as the role involves frequent shifts between processing materials, assisting multiple service points, and engaging with customers of all ages.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of library, retail, computer, or customer service experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Alpha-numeric sorting systems
  • Various library systems

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent time management skills with attention to detail

  • Comfortable using Zoom, Teams, and other online meeting platforms

Responsibilities
