About The Position

Do you communicate clearly, stay calm in difficult situations, and know when to step in—or step up? Daniel Boone Regional Library is looking for an Outreach Lead who can build strong relationships, support teammates, and help deliver library services to homebound patrons. This is a great role for someone who is confident handling real-world situations, exercises good judgment, and naturally supports and guides others—while working in alignment with manager direction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 48 college credit hours or equivalent experience
  • At least 3 years of customer service experience
  • Valid Missouri driver’s license with a strong driving record (Class E required within 1 month of hire)
  • Strong Communicator You listen well, speak clearly, and can explain things in a way others understand. You’re comfortable addressing concerns and navigating difficult conversations.
  • Sound Judgment You make thoughtful decisions, handle routine issues independently, and recognize when something needs manager support.
  • Collaborative Leader You help guide and support others, contribute to a positive team environment, and keep work moving forward in alignment with department priorities.
  • Customer-Focused You treat every patron and coworker with respect, patience, and care.
  • Organized & Reliable You follow through, stay on top of details, and help keep operations running smoothly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in libraries, outreach, or a related field
  • Two years of experience in a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main contact for homebound patrons, providing responsive and courteous service
  • Coordinate delivery routes and ensure materials are ready and delivered on time
  • Respond to calls and emails, including last-minute requests and concerns
  • Handle sensitive or challenging conversations with professionalism and care
  • Build strong relationships with patrons, coworkers, and community partners
  • Support and guide Outreach staff in day-to-day work, helping keep services organized and consistent
  • Solve problems independently and know when to escalate issues to a manager
  • Balance competing priorities and focus on core service needs
  • Select and deliver materials tailored to patron interests
  • Assist with programs, Bookmobile services, and other outreach projects
