About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Library Student Assistant - Boca Raton, FL. The Library Student Assistant supports daily library operations by assisting patrons, maintaining collections, and providing excellent customer service at the service desk. This position is intended for an FAU undergraduate student who is dependable, detail‑oriented, and eager to contribute to a welcoming and resource‑rich library environment.

Requirements

FAU degree-seeking undergraduate student with a minimum of six credit hours (or twelve if international) and a 2.0 GPA required.

Responsibilities

Provides desk coverage by greeting patrons and assisting with reference questions, study room keys, media equipment, and other service desk needs.
Answers departmental phone lines and assist callers with inquiries.
Organizes, shelves, and maintains library materials in assigned sections.
Assists with daily opening and closing procedures.
Performs circulation tasks, including checking in, checking out, and renewing library materials.
Processes Interlibrary Loan (ILL) items.
Processes PBSC library card applications and enters patron information into the LibGate database.
Issues library cards for special borrower categories.
Assists patrons with printer, technology, and other library-related issues.
Processes equipment requests through the library's laptop loaner program.
Utilizes the gate system to monitor patrons entering and exiting the building.
Communicates issues and collaborates with appropriate University departments as needed.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
