About The Position
A healthcare facility in Syracuse, NY is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Behavioral Health for a 13-week travel assignment. The LPN will provide patient care within a Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit , supporting patients between the ages of 5–17 years . The ideal candidate will have experience in behavioral health or inpatient care settings and demonstrate strong communication, patient care, and teamwork skills while working in a dynamic clinical environment.
Requirements
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License – New York State
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
- Ability to obtain or maintain CPR certification through the American Heart Association
- Experience working with pediatric or adolescent patients (ages 5–17)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and patient care skills
Nice To Haves
- Previous inpatient behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience
- Experience working with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians
- Assist with patient assessments and monitor patient conditions
- Measure and record vital signs and patient progress
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist during procedures
- Administer medications and injections as directed
- Observe patient responses to treatments and report changes to the healthcare team
- Maintain accurate patient documentation using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
- Assist with general administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, chart preparation, and maintaining patient records
- Coordinate with insurance providers to obtain necessary authorizations for treatments and procedures when required
- Maintain exam rooms and clinical areas to ensure a safe and organized environment
- Participate in nursing unit activities and support overall patient care operations
