About The Position

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide direct patient care in a Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit . The LPN will support the nursing and clinical team by assisting with patient care, monitoring patient conditions, and maintaining accurate documentation. This role involves working with patients ages 5–17 in a behavioral health setting and requires strong communication, observation, and patient care skills. The LPN will collaborate with healthcare providers, patients, and families to ensure safe and effective care in an acute psychiatric environment.

Requirements

  • Current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License
  • CPR Certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of LPN experience
  • Psychiatric care experience required
  • Experience working with children and adolescents (ages 5–17)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams
  • Strong observation and reporting skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced psychiatric care environment

Nice To Haves

  • Inpatient hospital experience preferred
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred
  • IV insertion experience preferred
  • EKG application experience preferred
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care Provide direct patient care to children and adolescents in a psychiatric unit
  • Monitor and record vital signs and patient progress
  • Observe patient responses to treatments and report findings to the nursing team
  • Assist physicians and registered nurses with patient care procedures and examinations
  • Clinical Support Assist with clinical tasks such as IV insertion, phlebotomy, and EKG application when required
  • Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and supplies for procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of clinical areas
  • Patient Coordination Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms
  • Assist with scheduling appointments and preparing patient charts
  • Coordinate authorizations for services such as MRIs, CT scans, physical therapy, and procedures
  • Communicate with primary care providers regarding patient referrals
  • Documentation & Unit Support Document patient care using Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Perform nursing care activities under the direction of supervising nurses
  • Support daily unit operations and nursing team activities
