About The Position

UPMC Cole Memorial Medical Group is currently hiring for a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our outpatient float pool team. This is a Monday through Friday, dayshift position with no weekend or holiday commitments! These are 8-hour shifts, as scheduled, between 7:00am and 6:30pm. Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)
  • Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Draw blood.
  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
  • Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM, and IV drips.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
  • Assess the patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Perform IV therapy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.
