About The Position

UPMC is currently hiring a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our outpatient office on Pine Street. This is an all-inclusive Primary Care office with both Family Medicine & Pediatric providers. The position we are hiring for is primarily Monday-Friday, with Saturday mornings covered on a rotation by all office staff. A typical M-F work week consists of 4 day shifts (as scheduled between 7:00am - 5:00pm) and 1 evening shift (10:30am - 7:00pm). When scheduled to cover Saturday morning (4hrs: 8:00am - 12:00pm), staff have a half day another day that week. Sign-on Bonus!: This position is currently eligible for a generous sign-on bonus! Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)
  • Current Pennsylvania nursing license, or a multistate license issued by an NLC‑participating state. Employees working on an out‑of‑state NLC license who later establish residency in Pennsylvania must apply for a PA Nursing license within 60 days of their residency change.

Responsibilities

  • Draw blood.
  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
  • Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM and IV drip.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  • Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse.
  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.
