About The Position

The Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) performs individual, marital, couples, group, and crisis intervention counseling to those experiencing difficulties with unplanned pregnancies, trauma, abuse issues, addictions, family problems, parenting, marital problems, stress management, and self-esteem; to promote optimum mental and emotional health. We are also considering LPC-A candidates for this role. LPC-A can expect a slightly lower pay range. Please be aware that some differences of the below Job Description will be based on your Certification.

Requirements

Master’s Degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology or a related field of study.
Must be currently licensed in the state of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Detailed oriented and organized.
Self- motivated.
Strong professional ethics and boundaries.
Multi-cultural understanding and competency.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under challenging situations.
Experience and competence across various capacities of counseling (relational, emotional, traumatic).

Nice To Haves

Non-profit or ministry experience, preferred.
Bilingual in English and Spanish, strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Completes comprehensive assessment within program guidelines and formulates a diagnostic impression by conducting client interviews and identifying strengths, weaknesses, problems, and needs, for the development of a treatment plan.
Prepares individualized treatment plan, in accordance with established standards and deadlines, consistent with assessment and in conjunction with clients and supervisor, to include goals, intervention, necessary support or referral service.
Evaluates client response to treatment and modifies treatment plan or recommends treatment extensions as circumstances require.
Develops clients discharge plans which integrate aftercare treatment and utilization of appropriate referral resources.
Coordinates discharges with court officers, social service agencies, or community organizations as appropriate or required.
Conducts individual counseling sessions with clients in accordance with treatment plan, or as necessary for crisis intervention; provides clients with feedback support or encouragement or to address behaviors and attitudes, or family, social or personal problems.
Formulate differential diagnosis of mild to moderate mental health conditions and/or substance abuse.
Consults with Medical Director and other providers regarding complex patients
Identify patients with urgent mental health conditions (e.g. suicidal, homicidal, psychotic, etc.) and make appropriate referrals to available emergency or psychiatric treatment facilities.
Prepares and conducts group counseling utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
Facilitates discussion and interaction and enables group members to understand and accept responsibility for recovery process and acquire necessary coping and behavior management skills.
Documents treatment plans, progress notes, intervention treatment evaluations, discharge summaries, treatment plan reviews, and so forth; and maintains client records and charts in accordance with organizational regulatory accreditations and contractual standards.
Maintains regular communication verbally and in written form with client family members or guardian, probation officers, case workers, court offices, insurance providers, and so forth to relay reports and other information for the continuity of care.
Assists with various projects pertaining to the counseling program and general program services as needed/requested by the Clinic Director
Complete required training for A2A.
Assists with training and ongoing mentoring of all Practicum Students and assists the Clinic Director to ensure each LPC Associates, Practicum Student and Program Coordinator are competent, effective, empathetic.
Participates in interviews of potential Practicum Students, LPC’s and LPC Associates and assists in selection process at request of Center Director.
Participation at Job or Mission Fairs to recruit new employees or volunteers as needed/requested.
Attendance in other community events to promote The Source as needed or requested.
Attends job specific training sessions offered within and outside of the organization to enhance job skills and knowledge.
Maintains educational trainings to meet CE requirements of renewing LPC licensure.
Knowledge and continued training of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5th Edition.
Willingness to work with a team approach to treatment.
