About The Position

The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of members and guests within the club’s aquatic facilities. This role maintains constant surveillance of the pool area, enforces safety regulations, and provides emergency response when necessary. The Lifeguard also plays an important hospitality role—creating a safe, welcoming, and family-friendly pool environment while delivering exceptional member service

Requirements

  • CPR/AED
  • Physical abilities: May be required to lift up to 35 – 45lbs.; Ability to swim 300+ yards continuously (per certification standards); Sitting or standing for extended periods of time
  • Strong communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basis
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to fulfill executive directions in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Working in a team based environment: Working independently and as a team player
  • Quality: Maintain integrity and high standards from all perspectives
  • Safety Culture: Maintain and drive safety policies; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout shift
  • 5-6 day work week
  • Flexibility to work hours needed based on event schedules

Nice To Haves

  • Current Lifeguard Certification (Red Cross or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain continuous, active surveillance of pool, deck, and surrounding areas
  • Enforce all club pool rules and safety policies consistently and professionally
  • Identify and respond quickly to potential hazards or unsafe behaviors
  • Perform water rescues and administer first aid or CPR as needed
  • Complete required incident reports accurately and promptly
  • Greet members and guests in a friendly, professional manner
  • Provide assistance with pool setup, umbrellas, seating, and towel service (if applicable)
  • Support special events such as swim meets, family pool nights, and holiday activities
  • Communicate rules in a respectful, member-focused manner
  • Conduct routine inspections of pool areas for cleanliness and safety compliance
  • Monitor pool chemical levels (if required by role)
  • Maintain orderly pool deck, restrooms, and cabana areas
  • Report maintenance or equipment issues to management
  • Attend in-service trainings and safety drills
  • Support Aquatics Manager in maintaining operational standards
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures of the pool facility
  • Performing any other tasks assigned by leadership
