About The Position

Sunriver Resort is looking for Lifeguards to join our team at The Quarry Pool this summer. If you enjoy spending time outdoors and being part of a poolside environment, this is a great opportunity to be part of the summer experience at the resort. The Lifeguards primary duty is to maintain swimmer safety at the Forest House. They are responsible for monitoring water conditions and guest behavior, and is responsible for enforcing safety rules and paying close attention to swimmer activities and behavior. Not lifeguard certified? No problem! Sunriver Resort provides full lifeguard certification! The Lifeguard at the Forest House will always conduct them self in a manner that supports the Core Values of Sunriver Resort: Trust, Open & Honest Communication, and Commitment. He/She/They shall strive to deliver exceptional service to all internal and external guests at all times. Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • At least one year of lifeguard experience preferred
  • Prior hospitality experience preferred
  • Certified Lifeguard Training Certificate preferred
  • Must be willing and able to become a certified lifeguard, Sunriver Resort will provide certification
  • Must have the ability to evaluate water conditions at the aquatics facilities to determine any potential dangers or hazards
  • Must be proficient swimmer
  • Must have the ability to judge and evaluate the evolving dynamics of individuals participating in aquatic activities to immediately assess their capabilities and threats to their safety
  • Must know the methods and techniques for providing on-site emergency medical services
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat);
  • Must be able to personally lift up to 40 lbs. on a frequent basis;
  • Must be able to occasionally lift over 40 lbs with assistance;
  • Must be able to stand and walk continuously throughout your shift
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces and reach on a continuous basis.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the water
  • Supervises swimming activities to ensure that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.
  • Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies.
  • Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary.
  • Evaluates conditions for safety and initiates aquatics emergency action plan as required.
  • Inspects pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable.
  • Able to act quickly and appropriately to secure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency
  • Present professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintain a high standard of customer service
  • Coordinates facility evacuations as needed for weather or health threats
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate activity reports
  • Able to follow routine verbal and written instructions
  • Attends mandatory monthly department meetings and appropriate resort and division meetings
  • Reports any needed repair immediately to Maintenance using correct procedures
  • Ensures proper resort policies are followed
  • Maintains a safe and pleasant work environment
  • Works closely with Director of Facilities and Grounds or on duty CPO to ensure pool health & safety standards are being met
  • Works closely with Red Cross of Oregon to ensure lifeguard policies are met and followed
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of pool health & safety standards
  • Instills a calm, organized approach in all stressful situations
  • Ensures cleanliness and safety of the outlet
  • Provides general resort information for guests
