About The Position

The Lighting Specialist (Studio & Field Production) is responsible for designing, implementing, and operating lighting systems that elevate the visual quality of video productions across studio and on-location environments. This role ensures technical excellence, creative alignment, and operational efficiency while adapting to dynamic production conditions. The position plays a critical role in delivering consistent, high-quality visual output across formats including live, scripted, and field-based content.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in studio, broadcast, or film/video lighting
  • Strong understanding of lighting principles including exposure, color temperature, and diffusion
  • Experience with LED lighting systems and DMX control
  • Knowledge of power distribution and safe electrical practices
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments and handle physical production demands
  • Experience with live broadcast or streaming productions
  • Familiarity with lighting brands such as ARRI, Aputure, Litepanels, or Kino Flo
  • Experience with lighting grids, truss systems, and rigging
  • Basic understanding of camera systems and cinematography workflows
  • Experience with both field and studio lighting

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute lighting setups for studio productions including interviews, live streams, and scripted content
  • Set up and operate portable lighting systems for field shoots across varied environments
  • Collaborate with directors, cinematographers, and producers to achieve desired visual outcomes
  • Operate lighting consoles, DMX systems, and dimmers as required
  • Manage lighting equipment inventory, maintenance, and organization
  • Ensure proper exposure, color temperature, and lighting consistency across productions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve lighting and technical issues during live or recorded shoots
  • Safely rig, adjust, and strike lighting equipment in accordance with production schedules
  • Support studio reconfiguration including lighting grid and rigging adjustments
  • Maintain compliance with electrical safety and rigging standards
