About The Position

The Line Maintenance Planner II is responsible for ensuring all assigned Maintenance Program requirements, Airworthiness Directives, modifications and deferred maintenance are effectively planned and executed at Horizon Air. As an individual contributor, this role supports the operation by ensuring aircraft maintenance is effectively planned, and safety risks are mitigated.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience supporting airline or aircraft operations, planning, analytics, or materials.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Ability to effectively analyze, problem solve and make decisions in the planning of line maintenance events, including the unexpected, and alternatives to reaching goals.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to make sound analytical decisions in a real-time, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and achieve results with limited oversight or guidance.
  • Able and willing to work weekends, holidays, and non-standard shifts.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Airline industry experience.
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures and FAA regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word and Trax.
  • Knowledge of General Procedures Manual (GPM) and other company manuals.
  • Understanding of Horizon Air Operations Specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Hold responsibility, authority, and decision-rights to stop the operation or ground aircraft for any safety or compliance related issue and escalate concerns to leadership.
  • Develop solutions to effectively plan scheduled maintenance for Horizon Air’s fleet of aircraft.
  • Reconcile the daily maintenance plan as aircraft swaps occur, reassign planned work, review the work plan with the shift manager/supervisor, and initiate or maintain communications on planned maintenance assigned to out-stations to meet the demands of the workload.
  • Develop and maintain Work Orders for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance items as required for duty assignments.
  • Make recommendations and collaborate with Heavy Maintenance, Fleet Planners and the Materials department to coordinate stagger plans for landing gear, engines and other heavy maintenance components as needed.
  • With limited direction from manager, plan maintenance work packages based on the availability of planned workforce hours to ensure minimum aircraft downtime and a balanced workload.
  • Partner with Maintenance Control and Technical Services on the accomplishment of maintenance deferrals and maintenance follow-up items affecting the daily workload.
  • Ensure parts, tooling and materials are scheduled/routed to the job site to support the planned workload.
  • Coordinate nightly work scopes with base maintenance and maintenance out-stations, with follow-up as necessary.
  • Coordinate and communicate with maintenance stations and leadership for any work that must be done during the operational day.
  • Maintain knowledge of TRAX functions as they pertain to the planning environment and maintain, and update forecast in respect to the duty assignment.
  • Assess Alert Report query to mitigate risk of an aircraft over-fly.
