The Linux Server Administrator is assigned to a team that is responsible for the support for the entire computing environment including hardware procurement and deployment, tier 3 system support, project management of deployment and rehab projects, and assigned monitoring and management responsibilities. The role is a member of the IT shared services team that supports a portfolio of privately held companies. This position is hybrid, with periodic onsite attendance required based on business needs, typically a few times a month. Qualified candidates must reside with a 3 hour driving distance of the Indianapolis, IN area

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Information Technology or equivalent experience
  • Required experience identifying and resolving issues independently.
  • Required 5+ years supporting Linux systems
  • Required strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, including Ubuntu, CentOS, or Red Hat.
  • Required Experience in technologies to include: Red Hat Satellite, Ansible automation, Docker for container management, Kubernetes, Certificate management, Web service management, Cloud services like Azure or AWS
  • Required Experience configuring various Linux based Servers: Design, implement and support various Linux systems, Documentation of systems in production, Command-line interface (CLI) and shell scripting, System patching and updating, Understanding of security best practices and security measures on Linux systems
  • Required Experience with DNS / DHCP / GPO Login Scripts
  • ITIL based service delivery for Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, Capacity Management, and Configuration Management
  • Ability to hold themselves and others accountable to high standards

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects related to the deployment of new systems.
  • Provide technical expertise in projects.
  • Ability to solve problems effectively and efficiently.
  • Linux updates and patch management.
  • Engage with vendor-managed support teams assisting with troubleshooting, performance issues and patching.
  • Licensing management.
  • Certificate management.
  • Familiar Powershell to automate processes and changes in environment as required.
  • Creating and revising technical documentation for Linux, Windows and Application environments.
  • Manage and configure Azure cloud resources.
  • Supports ServiceDesk in resolving escalated tickets requiring specific technical knowledge.
  • Provides Tier 3 server troubleshooting and support, including on-call rotation, and after-hours support.
