Nightwing is seeking a qualified Linux Systems Administrator to work with a close-nit team to assist in the maintenance and operation of our critical infrastructure. Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented and skilled at making data-driven decisions to proactively address issues before they impact end users.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Must have an active Secret clearance and obtain a TS/SCI clearance
  • 3+ years of directly relevant experience in Linux System Administrator.
  • Proficiency in managing and maintaining Linux servers (e.g., Debian, Ubuntu).
  • Strong understanding of Linux file systems, permissions, and security.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, etc.).
  • Experience with network troubleshooting and security (firewalls, security groups, NACLs).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with shell scripting (Bash, Python, etc.) for automation and task management.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct day-to-day operations of customer networks including installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux operating systems (e.g., Debian, Ubuntu).
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues and optimize system resources to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency. Implement proactive measures to identify and address potential bottlenecks or performance degradation.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems from vulnerabilities, unauthorized access, and malware threats.
  • Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans for Linux systems.
  • Manage the patching process for Linux servers, including scheduling, testing, and deploying software updates and security patches in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with patch management policies and procedures.
  • Develop automation scripts and tools using shell scripting (e.g., Bash), Python, or other scripting languages to streamline system administration tasks, automate repetitive processes, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including key stakeholders to support project initiatives and resolve technical issues.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and training purposes.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to internal users and teams regarding Linux-related issues. Diagnose problems and implement solutions in a timely manner to minimize downtime and disruptions.
