Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Litigation Counsel to join our legal team and provide comprehensive litigation support to the Deputy General Counsel. This role involves managing litigation matters, from case assessment through resolution, while working closely with outside counsel and cross-functional business teams in the life science industry.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • 4-6 years of litigation experience at a large law firm (AmLaw 100 preferred)
  • Active bar admission in Texas (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Strong academic credentials and law school achievements
  • Experience with federal and state court litigation
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial litigation, employment law, or regulatory matters
  • Business-minded approach to legal problem-solving
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex matters simultaneously
  • Understanding of healthcare regulatory environment and medical device industry
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare or life science litigation experience
  • Experience in healthcare compliance matters or government investigations
  • Trial experience or significant motion practice

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing litigation strategy and case management for all active matters
  • Oversee strategy development and discovery, including document review, expert witness coordination
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather facts, documents, and witness information
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, and briefs
  • Manage relationships with outside counsel, including selection, engagement, and performance oversight, including budgeting and cost effectiveness
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather facts, documents, and witness information
  • Assess litigation risks and provide strategic recommendations to business leadership to avoid unnecessary litigation
  • Participate in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution proceedings
  • Identify potential litigation risks and implement preventive measures
  • Provide legal guidance to management and other departments on a range of issues, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws
  • Support internal investigations and regulatory inquiries
  • Maintain litigation holds and ensure proper document preservation
  • Provide litigation-related training to business teams on healthcare compliance issues
  • Work closely with business units to understand operational context of legal matters
  • Coordinate with other legal team members on matters involving multiple practice areas
  • Support contract negotiations and business transactions with litigation risk considerations
