About The Position

The Livestock Driver is responsible for loading and transporting pigs safely and efficiently, providing timely delivery to the transfer station and farms. The position also involves hauling feed from time to time. This role must safely and professionally operate a company-owned and provided commercial motor vehicle and maintain compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations as well as company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Knowledge of Agriculture and feed operation practices and procedures.
  • Basic understanding of computer operations.
  • Skill in Following oral and written communications.
  • Time management.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Customer service.
  • Ability to Follow verbal/written instructions.
  • Work both independently and in a team environment to accomplish goals.
  • Desire to learn new skills and technology systems.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years in agriculture or related field

Responsibilities

  • Operate tractor/trailer in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Effectively communicate with dispatch as required.
  • Physically meet the demands of required duties as described in the Physical Requirements section of this Job Profile.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on truck/trailer to ensure DOT standards are met and detect defects that may affect the safe operation of the unit; perform in-route inspections as needed
  • Report any defects or problems with the truck/trailers to the appropriate individuals.
  • Maintain all required paperwork associated with each load.
  • Review paperwork to determine the nature of the load, customer location, delivery route and that the delivery time corresponds with dispatch instructions.
  • Comply with all company and customer requirements on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Properly maintain all records required by the company as well as governmental agencies.
  • Report all accidents and/or work-related injuries (regardless of severity) to the appropriate manager.
  • Maintain proper communication with manager on status.
