Job Title: Lo'i (Kalo) Farmer Department: Diversified Agriculture - Pahalona Location: Kualoa Ranch, Oahu, Hawaii Schedule: On-Site. Full-time, with open availability including weekends and holidays. POSITION SUMMARY: The Diversified Agriculture Technician Kalo Farmer is responsible for supporting the daily operations of Kualoa Ranch’s agricultural plots, contributing to the production of high-quality local food. This role involves executing a variety of tasks such as irrigation, planting, harvesting, fertilizing, weeding, pest and disease management, and general site maintenance. Crop supported is mainly kalo. may include fruits, vegetables, ornamentals, and small livestock. Additionally, this position may assist with aquaculture ponds, fruits, vegetables, ornamentals, and small livestock further contributing to Kualoa’s mission of sustainable agriculture.

Requirements

  • Physical ability to perform intensive manual labor throughout the duration of the shift.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in lo'i plot maintenance, including herbicide and fertilizer application, planting, weeding, and harvesting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily agricultural tasks, including irrigation, planting, harvesting, fertilizing, and pest/disease management.
  • Perform weeding, seeding, transplanting, and general maintenance to ensure the health and productivity of crops.
  • Maintain and repair agricultural plots, including proper use and application of herbicides and fertilizers.
  • Assist with mala work as needed.
  • Support general site upkeep to maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Operate machinery and equipment as required for agricultural tasks.
