About The Position

The Office of Student Financial Services at the University of Virginia seeks a Loan Coordinator responsible for the oversight of Direct and Private loan processing. The Loan Coordinator provides comprehensive and quality financial aid administration and counseling for undergraduate and graduate students, parents, university departments, and external organizations. This position also contributes to compliance with federal and state regulations, creation and enforcement of office policies, and procedures to ensure timely and accurate delivery of student financial aid. The salary range is between $55,000 - $62,000 and is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position will not consider candidates who require immigration sponsorship now or in the future. This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. This position is located on the UVA Grounds in Charlottesville, VA. Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree
  • Experience: At least two years of financial aid experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Award, certify, process, troubleshoot, and reconcile Direct and Private loans for Student Financial Services. Train new employees on how to navigate the SIS and ELMOne user interfaces. Monitor activity for bottlenecks and make recommendations to remove obstacles.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding loans. Provide loan counseling to students and parents.
  • Regularly review Federal policies and regulations regarding Direct Loans utilizing FSA and NSLDS resources. Keep Financial Aid Director informed of upcoming changes.
  • Document loan processes to conform with auditing requirements.
  • Assist the awarding team during peak periods to provide award packages and participate in quality control efforts to determine if the awards are correct following standard packaging rules.
  • Participate in the testing of awarding tools, revised packaging formulas, modified workflow queues, and accuracy of new reports.
  • Process financial aid change request applications, one-time computer expense forms, and health insurance requests.
