Join our Lexington, NC locomotive truck overhaul shop and help us keep rail systems running at their best. A day in this role It’s 7:00 AM in Lexington, North Carolina. You clock in for 1st shift (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM) and connect with your tight-knit team. Reporting to the CS Production Manager, you dive into the day’s production plan. You’ll tear down and rebuild locomotive trucks for our TSSSA customers, using your mechanical know‑how and precision to return critical assets to service. Carry out complete overhaul activities on Siemens locomotive trucks aligned to the production schedule. Disassemble, inspect, and refit mechanical components by following Siemens work instructions. Reprofile train wheelsets when needed using a state-of-the-art wheel lathe. Pre-clean components with a pressure washer to prepare for inspection. Safely move heavy locomotive trucks using overhead cranes and appropriate lifting gear. Coordinate with the warehouse to pick up parts, spares, and materials. Maintain an orderly workshop and support additional tasks as directed by Management, Supervisors, or Lead Technicians. What you bring High School Diploma or GED. 2+ years of hands-on experience in a primarily mechanical environment. Proven accuracy documenting work activities and operations. Solid familiarity with tool control, torque tools, measurement devices, and appropriate PPE. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and publications. Skill in writing detailed technical reports. Effective verbal and written communication in English. Bonus points for railroad or overhaul background, plus crane and/or forklift experience. The actual salary/wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
