The Logistics Manager is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the two separate warehouse facilities that support the Old Hickory Magnera mega-site. This role ensures the efficient flow of materials, components, and finished goods to support customer orders and internal production schedules while maintaining compliance, cost efficiency, and service excellence. The Logistics Manager plays a critical role in inventory control, on-time customer shipments, freight management, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of logistics, warehouse, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment; 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/WMS systems.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all inbound and outbound freight operations to ensure timely and accurate material flow.
  • Oversee transportation, carriers, and 3PL partners to optimize cost and service levels.
  • Resolve freight issues, shortages, damages, and claims.
  • Review and approve or dispute/resolve freight invoices.
  • Generate necessary purchase requisitions and purchase order management within MRP systems.
  • Maintain accurate inventory to support customer orders and production.
  • Ensure proper storage, material handling, and FIFO practices.
  • Monitor cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory adjustments.
  • Implement best practices to minimize shrink, damage, and obsolete materials.
  • Support just-in-time and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Ensure all logistics operations comply with DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards.
  • Ensure proper documentation is maintained and generated for all outbound shipments including international freight.
  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability within logistics teams.
  • Lead, train, and develop warehouse and logistics personnel.
  • Establish performance expectations, conduct evaluations, and coach for continuous improvement.
  • Foster teamwork, engagement, and operational discipline.
  • Analyze logistics metrics (OTIF, freight spend, inventory turns, dock-to-stock time, etc.).
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Support and/or lead future efforts for system enhancements, system changes, and warehouse improvements.
