About The Position

Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) is a progressive and well-established Department of Defense (DoD) contractor specializing in Range operations and maintenance (O&M); weapons testing; facilities management; aerial, ground and seaborne targets O&M; technical, logistics and other engineering support; systems integration; electronics and communications maintenance services; and a growing cybersecurity business. At the Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC), SA-TECH performs operational, intermediate, and depot-level maintenance for aerial and seaborne assets in support of weapon systems test and evaluation and fleet training exercises. We manage all stages of aerial and seaborne target assets’ operational progression from initial inspection and configuration through deployment, return and post-operation maintenance and repair. We provide management, scheduling and execution of aerial and seaborne target operations; operation and maintenance of target recovery vessels (Aerial Vehicle Recovery [AVRs]); asset maintenance and depot repair; depot engineering assistance; recovery of aerial and seaborne assets; inventory management; and management of Government-furnished facilities, materials, vehicles and equipment. We are currently looking to hire a highly motivated and skilled Logistics Support Technician to provide technical support for a variety of infrastructure projects, including fiber optic communications installations, facility power upgrades, and radio and intercom systems for the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons, Advanced Technology Test Team (ATTT) at Naval Base Ventura County Point Mugu, CA . The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support for a variety of infrastructure projects, including fiber optic communications installations, facility power upgrades, and radio and intercom systems. This role also involves significant administrative duties, such as managing facility modification forms and liaising with various teams to ensure timely project completion. The ideal candidate will be a versatile individual with a strong technical background and excellent organizational and communication skills.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. In addition, a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, with hands-on experience in communication infrastructure design, fiber optics, and secure communications systems.
  • Demonstrated experience working with complicated secure systems, including the integration of networks using TACLANE devices (e.g., KG-175N) and management of KV-77 type security keys or similar COMSEC equipment.
  • Experience with Communications Security (COMSEC) protocols and handling of cryptographic materials is required.
  • Proficiency in communication infrastructure design and development.
  • Expertise in the use of fiber optic tools and test equipment, including splicers, OTDRs, and power meters.
  • Strong knowledge of secure networking principles and experience with cryptographic equipment like TACLANE.
  • Familiarity with the handling and management of COMSEC keys and devices.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and safety procedures.
  • Experience with the installation and maintenance of radio and intercom systems.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with different teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Current Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Secret Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
  • Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. alone, and/or 50-100 lbs. when assisted by others.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification from the Fiber Optic Association (FOA), such as Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT), is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Communication Infrastructure Design and Support Contribute to the design and development of communication infrastructure projects.
  • Install, terminate, splice, and test fiber optic cables.
  • Troubleshoot and repair fiber optic systems using equipment such as OTDRs and power meters.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics for system installations.
  • Maintain detailed records of fiber optic infrastructure, including test results and repairs.
  • Secure Systems Integration Integrate and maintain secure network systems, including experience with in-line network encryptors like TACLANE (e.g., KG-175N).
  • Manage and handle cryptographic security keys and devices, such as the KV-77 series, ensuring compliance with all security protocols.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance on secure communication equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Facility Power Upgrades Assist in the planning and execution of facility power upgrades.
  • Install and maintain electrical wiring, conduits, and other electrical components as needed.
  • Ensure all power upgrade work complies with safety standards and regulations.
  • Radio and Intercom Systems Install, configure, and maintain radio and intercom systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues with radio and intercom equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on communication systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Administrative and Liaison Duties Prepare and process facility modification forms accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams, project managers, and other departments to facilitate the approval and processing of modification forms.
  • Regularly follow up with all stakeholders to ensure that forms are processed efficiently and to address any issues that may arise.
  • Maintain a tracking system for all facility modification requests and provide regular status updates to management.
  • Collateral duties as assigned.
