About The Position

Position Title: ESOL Long Term Substitute Teacher K-4 & Middle School Qualifications: Must possess or be eligible for Connecticut State Department of Education certification (111) Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages Degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in elementary education. Reports to: Building Principal and/or designee Compensation: In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education. Work Year: Position to begin on or about May 18, 2026, and ends on June 16, 2026 (the last day of the 2025-26 school year. Salary and benefits in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education. Responsibilities: The ESOL Substitute Teacher has the following responsibilities as listed below and other duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned by the Building Principal and/or designee: Prepare instructional resources and assessments that support the delivery of the Avon Public School's curriculum, particularly the elementary disciplines. Develop and implement lesson plans, unit plans, and educational projects to ensure students’ academic development. Provide differentiated instructional strategies and assessment and/or modify the curriculum to meet the learning needs of students with structured learning plans (IEPs and 504s) Provide support to all learners who require additional help or guidance with academic problems and concepts. Other responsibilities as defined by the building principal or designee.
Requirements
- Must possess or be eligible for Connecticut State Department of Education certification (111) Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
- Degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in elementary education.
