About The Position

As a health care provider for students, the School Nurse (LPN) works with a Registered Nurse (RN) and provider to give students direct nursing services. You also provide education to students and school staff and implement health policies and procedures. Through collaboration with the school and RN, you will work on a health care plan and emergency protocol for students requiring accommodations. You perform all necessary and applicable medical treatments, point of care testing and procedures for chronic disease. Teaching designated faculty/staff how to monitor and respond to emergencies involving students with chronic diseases and special needs is also one of your responsibilities. You will coordinate mandated health screenings and provide individual education and counseling when needed. This position entails health leadership for health issues in the building and to establish communication and consultation services to parents, the community and other health care providers. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (LPN)
  • Valid LPN license to practice in the state of Ohio
  • Must be registered and licensed with the Ohio Department of Education and pass required background checks before beginning employment
  • Minimum two years of LPN experience
  • Current BLS

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of LPN experience in pediatric, school health or public health nursing
