Summary: Come join our Nursing Team in providing direct nursing services to clients in adult substance-use treatment! Located in Harford County, Maryland, our Joppa Inpatient program provides treatment paths for both men and women for substance use disorders, methamphetamine and other stimulant use, co-occurring disorders, and has a methadone maintenance program for opioid addiction. Requirements

  • Current LPN license in the state of practice.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques.
  • Awareness and understanding of regulating bodies (CARF, Office of Mental Health, DDAP).

Responsibilities

  • Properly instructs and guides chemical dependency technicians in client care responsibilities and assignments.
  • Orientation of new employees to unit-specific policies and procedures, providing positive and constructive feedback and direction to students/interns on the unit.
  • Conveys accurate information in a supportive and courteous manner to unit nursing and tech staff.
  • Seeks out supervision and direction from the physician, completing nursing assessments under the direction of the RN, transfers, discharges, treatment plans, progress notes, medication reconciliation, medication administration, vitals, knowledge of detox protocols, assisting the medical doctor as needed, and providing medical lectures.
  • Reports any unusual occurrences to the nurse supervisor/program director promptly, ensures room assignments are appropriate to clients’ needs, and attends and actively participates in departmental staff meetings.
  • Maintains medical equipment in proper working order; maintains confidentiality and proper boundaries.
  • Team builder with the ability to drive continuous improvement projects, maintain confidentiality, multitask, be decisive, possess excellent problem-solving/trouble-shooting skills, and be a teacher who is cooperative within the team framework.
  • Other duties as assigned.
