About The Position

This exempt position is part of the service delivery team responsible for quality patient care at the health center sites. This position directs nursing staff activities (e.g., Medical Assistants, etc.) to ensure quality of care, patient flow, and compliance with regulations and governing bodies. This position is established to open services at new sites, hire and train replacement staff, and move to new sites as they open. Additionally, as a member of the Clinical Team the LVN Clinical Audit Specialist evaluates and guides staff performances along with providing indirect and direct patient care within the scope of the respective nursing license. Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Services, the Clinical Audit Specialist will assist in the ongoing support of the electronic health record, practice management system, and other clinical information systems. A primary role will be to provide training and support of clinical staff as stated in the MA Boot Camp training checklist as it pertains to nursing policies and procedures in the health information technology systems. The position is part of an implementation team of Clinical Specialists that will engage in the day to day operations of staff when opening and managing a new site. Additionally, train new site staff members at health centers until they are proficient in the position. This position will also be responsible for being the primary support to troubleshoot, resolve, and create workflow processes that address UHC's policies and procedures. The position will involve working with Director of Clinical Services, Clinical Services Trainer, Clinical Support Specialist Team, Health Information Technology, Quality Improvement, Nurses, and Medical Assistants including Health Center Manager. The successful candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft Office and possess knowledge of general office policies and procedures. The LVN Supervisor Specialist must possess the ability to exercise professional judgment involving access to privileged information, orient new employees and providers on the electronic health record policies and procedures, demonstrate the ability to use problem identification and solution skills and present training in an organized and understandable manner. The LVN Clinical Specialist must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, maintain attention to detail, follow through on work tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate regular status updates with management.

Requirements

  • Experience in healthcare industry required, in either implementation or electronic health record support role.
  • EHR experience preferred.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Orients new clinical staff on the electronic health record policies and procedures, demonstrates the ability to use problem identification and solution skills and present training in an organized and understandable manner.
  • Must have critical thinking and problem solving skills and expertise.
  • Graduate of an accredited school and possess a valid Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) License
  • CPR Certification
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in an ambulatory care setting
  • Minimum 1 year of management or supervisory experience
  • Background in clinical audit requirements
  • Able to quickly build and maintain rapport with patients and providers of differing backgrounds; team player

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Clinical Services Director, Clinical Services Trainer, Medical Assistants, Health Center Manager, providers, and other members of the management team to: Responsible for clinical staff training that includes assessments of needs and staff skills at the health centers.
  • The LVN Clinical Specialist will report to the designated training site for continuous hands on training.
  • Travel from site to site as needed.
  • Assist as a floating team for sites in need of coverage.
  • Assist with maintenance of skills trainings.
  • Assist with ongoing competency assessment checks.
  • Assist with ongoing site audits.
  • Assist in maintaining patient flow in the health center to a level that supports agency productivity standards and goals
  • Communicate with appropriate personnel as necessary, to examine, revise and evaluate inner-clinic processes to promote efficiency
  • Schedule and facilitate monthly trainings as needed regarding procedures, forms, and procedural changes, etc.
  • Maintain accurate records for all meetings (including sign-in sheet) and storing in a place accessible to all staff.
  • Under the Clinical Services Director is responsible for the clinical staff-training program that includes assessment of needs and staff skills, maintenance of skills, competence assessment and improvement of competence and the promotion of self-development and learning through hands on training according to the Training Expectations Guide.
  • Works closely with Clinical Services Director, Clinical Services Trainer, Health Center Manager and the Human Resources Department to ensure staff competency and that all personnel policies and procedures are followed appropriately.
  • Contributes and supports the team environment by maintaining open communication between the Operations Department (front office and nursing) and site medical providers
  • Contributes to overall communication within the area by attending monthly site supervisory meetings and reporting back information and issues to medical support team.
  • Supports the health centers' cooperative approach to team building by supporting a team approach to site leadership.
  • Must be able to demonstrate exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and be able to clearly communicate information.
  • Supports the health center's financial responsibility by ensuring the maintenance of site inventory and ordering of medical supplies meets the patient need and corporate fiscal needs.
  • Participates in annual budget development related to areas of responsibility.
  • Supports the continued development of efficiencies by working closely with the Clinical Services Trainer, Health Center Manager and site leadership in the implementation of processes.
  • Supports patient access by screening walk-in patients and routes appropriately.
  • Meets regulatory and continuity of care by utilizing standing orders and established screening guides under supervision of physicians.
  • Supports the internal and external patient care by taking responsibility for outpatient medical chart using SOAP method of charting.
  • Supports patient access by providing telephone advice regarding care per health center protocol.
  • Supports the efforts of the providers by supervising the functions in treatment room and is primary in this regard.
  • Supports patient care by assisting the physician and/or provider in procedures and pelvic exams
  • Supports patient care by administering medication and treatment ordered by physicians and/or provider staff.
  • Attends and actively participates in all meetings (e.g., department meetings, program meetings, employee staff meetings) and other activities as required or assigned.
  • Attends workshops/seminars as necessary to increase skills and knowledge to provide effective care, treatment, and/or leadership.
  • Supports the overall needs of the health center by working flexible or extended hours when necessary.
  • Supports the needs of the health center by traveling to other UHC clinics when staffing needs dictate the need for licensed personnel.
  • Demonstrates awareness of, and compliance with, the organizational mission and objectives of UHC to provide health care access and support services for all members of the community.
  • Supports their own staff development by completing the required hours of continuing education each year.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
