The Occupational Medicine clinics are hiring for an outgoing and compassionate Medical Assistant as a float to our Boise, Nampa, and Caldwell clinics! Position Summary & Highlights: Saint Alphonsus Occupational Medicine works closely with employers to minimize costs of work-related injuries and illnesses. This MA position will work as a float in Occupational Medicine, working primarily between the Boise clinic (located on West Emerald), the Nampa clinic (located at the Garrity clinic near the Nampa Medical Center), and the new Caldwell clinic location. These clinics see both scheduled and walk-in patients making each day different regarding patient volumes and patient complexity. Often times patients are visiting the clinic due to being injured on the job, which can be a very critical and sensitive time for these individuals. What You Will Do: You will work as an MA float 2-3 days per week in Occupational Medicine, working primarily between the Boise clinic (located on West Emerald), the Nampa clinic (located at the Garrity clinic near the Nampa Medical Center), and the new Caldwell clinic (located on Aviation Way). You will also work in the front office 2 days per week in a patient service rep role, checking in patients, verifying insurance, etc. In the back office in the MA role you will assist patients with navigating the workers compensation system, perform drug screen collection, breath/alcohol testing, pulmonary function testing, TB testing, vaccinations, spirometry, EKGs, and audiograms. Process paperwork and work through the workers compensation process, including initiating, processing, and communicating with sureties and specialists pertaining to referrals. You will also work and be crossed trained in front office duties by our patient services reps. You will also have the opportunity to become certified in drug testing collection, breath/alcohol testing, and pulmonary function testing. An ideal candidate will be bilingual in Spanish or have a medical interpreter certification. You will have experience with providing a high level of customer/patient service as well as a high level of compassion and have an understanding of workers compensation as it pertains to occupational medicine. You will be open and honest and enjoy providing feedback and solutions to resolve problems. You will enjoy learning and have strong time management and prioritizing skills. Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, Mondays - Fridays, around the hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm. Once fully trained, a 4-day 9 or 10 hour shift work week may be an option depending on staffing and patient volumes and is discussed in advance. The position will ideally work 1 day in Boise, 2 days in Nampa, and 2 days in Caldwell. On Thursdays and Fridays, you will work in the front office role primarily in Caldwell, but could work at other clinic locations as well. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.
  • MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA) American Medical Technologists (RMA) National Healthcare Association (CCMA) National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA) National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA) American Medical Certification Association (CMAC) National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)
  • MA certificate of completion required from an accredited program or school.
  • Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months MA experience in lieu of the externship hours even with MA certification.
  • 1 Year of MA experience OR Current MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
  • Obtaining the MA certification typically requires completing an MA Program or working as a Medical Assistant for at least 1 year.
  • EMT and CNA certifications will not count towards an MA certification.
