About the position
As a Machine Operator III at Sonoco, you will be responsible for running machines for each customer’s job. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will troubleshoot, repair, and adjust equipment to ensure the production of quality parts that meet company standards. Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. You must take pride in your personal hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting, repairing, and adjusting equipment to ensure the production of quality parts that meet company standards.
- Consistently loading rolls of plastic onto machinery.
- Setting up new jobs and operating various thermoforming machinery.
- Making incremental process adjustments to machinery.
- Monitoring and reporting quality of manufactured products.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area.
- Performing all duties as designated by supervisor/manager in support of Sonoco’s quality and safety policies.
- Helping other departments as needed.
Requirements
- Previous machine operating experience in an industrial setting.
- Extensive knowledge of personal hand tools and safe usage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Working knowledge of products and their quality requirements.
- Reliability, good initiative, commitment, and quality focus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
