About The Position

The Machine Operator is responsible for operating and supporting the Modular Center machining system to produce accurate, high-quality components for panel builds. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret drawings, work instructions, and cut sheets. The Mod Center Operator plays a critical role in ensuring machined parts meet quality standards, production schedules are maintained, and equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Mechanical skills with the ability to use hand and power tools; understanding of measuring tools.
  • Ability to follow complex instructions and identify errors in blueprints or drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, cut sheets, and dimensional drawings.
  • Basic proficiency with Mod Center software, job tracking systems, and CAD-related programs.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills and ability to restore equipment operation when issues arise.
  • Effective communication with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities.
  • Basic math skills, including working with standard and metric measurements.
  • Commitment to following all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25–50 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to bend, reach, squat, kneel, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to work safely around machinery and manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the Mod Center machining system in accordance with work instructions, cut sheets, and dimensional drawings.
  • Load and manage machine programs using Mod Center software and basic CAD files as required.
  • Verify machined components meet drawing specifications, tolerances, and shop quality standards.
  • Inspect finished parts to confirm accuracy and consistency prior to release.
  • Monitor Mod Center performance to ensure efficient operation.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting to return the Mod Center to service if it goes offline.
  • Escalate mechanical or software issues when necessary.
  • Perform periodic checks on machine output to ensure continued quality.
  • Verify the Mod Center work area is properly stocked with required machining tools (end mills, drills, etc.).
  • Ensure tooling is maintained, organized, and ready for production.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area in compliance with 5S and safety standards.
  • Follow all safety procedures and ensure proper use of PPE at all times.
  • Maintain a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and communicate discrepancies or drawing issues to supervisors.
  • Support safe operation of equipment and adherence to shop standards.
