About The Position

The CNC Operator (Foam Industry) is responsible for operating computer-controlled cutting machines to shape foam materials into precise dimensions and custom designs. This role is commonly found in industries such as furniture manufacturing, automotive seating, bedding, packaging, and insulation production. The CNC Operator ensures foam products meet exact specifications, quality standards, and production deadlines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (technical training preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of CNC machinery and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow cutting layouts
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to lift foam materials and stand for extended

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CAD file input and basic machine programming (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC foam cutting machines (horizontal/vertical saws)
  • Load foam blocks or sheets onto machine beds and secure materials properly
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and production work orders
  • Monitor machine performance and adjust cutting speeds, blade settings, and depth as needed
  • Inspect finished foam parts for accuracy, smooth edges, and dimensional tolerances
  • Measure products using tape measures, calipers, and templates
  • Perform routine maintenance such as blade changes and equipment cleaning
  • Maintain production logs and document material usage
  • Follow safety protocols, especially regarding dust control and moving machinery
