About The Position

Collins Aerospace is looking to hire Machine Shop Technician – Grinder, Reporting to the Supervisor – Processing, as the Machine Shop Technician - Grinding, you will be responsible for general grinding on the weekend night shift. Work Location: Oakville Facility, Ontario – Canada Shift Hours – Weekend Nights – Friday - Sunday (6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.) Our Advanced Structures team leverages advanced materials and additive manufacturing to develop complex interior and exterior solutions. Requirements

  • Typically; High school diploma, and 3 - 5 years of experience in Grinding/ Lathe/ CNC Machining.
  • Experience with machine shop practices, including lathe, Turning , Vhone and / or Grinding.
  • Experience working to close tolerances and solid understanding of blueprint reading and all associated measuring equipment
  • The selected candidate has to be eligible to work in Canada; successful candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR and CCGP

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate of Qualification (C of Q)
  • 3 years of cylindrical grinding experience of large components.

Responsibilities

  • ID and OD grinding of large chrome and HVOF plated aircraft components
  • Participate in lean initiatives (i.e. 5S, TPM, process improvement teams)
  • Communicate and co-ordinate priorities and process issues between operators and shifts
  • Observe and adhere to all safety policies and procedures
  • Use of Cranes to move parts
  • Support and promote continuous improvement, 5S activities and Standard Work Development in the cell.
  • Multi-task and operate other machines within the cell.
  • Can fully achieve the responsibilities of the position within a training time of 4-6 weeks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
