Morton Industries is hiring for a 1st shift Machinist! Morton offers: Low Insurance Premiums on Medical, Dental, and Vision Short Term and Long-Term Disability Hospital, Critical Illness, and Accident Coverages Paid Time Off Paid Holidays Company Paid Life Insurance 401K Match Paid Bereavement SUMMARY Sets up, adjusts, checks out programming, and operates NC/CNC lathes to perform a complex series of operations on a diversified line of work. Works to close tolerances and finish specifications requiring a high degree of skill, a broad knowledge of machining techniques and familiarity with NC/CNC operational procedures. Proceeds with minimum direction and supervision; instructions and guidance are provided on programming and operational difficulties. Work is subject to final inspection. Assists other Lathe operators with production/machine related questions and problems. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Include, but are not limited to, the following: Reads process sheets, blueprints, and sketches of part to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, set up, and operating requirements. Enters required information into computer bank. Mounts workpiece between centers, in chuck, or to faceplate. Selects and installs preset tooling in tool posts, turrets or indexing heads, and automatic tool change magazine, in sequence specified on process sheet. Depresses buttons, or toggles to start machining operation. Observes numerical displays on control panel and compares with data on process sheet to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates, and speeds of machining cuts. Enters data to override pre-programming to correct machine performance. Inspects first run piece and spot checks succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications. Studies job packet and organizes materials for next run during controlled cycles to shorten changeover time. Sets tools before positioning them in lathe. Sets up and operates another machine tool during machining cycles. Performs duties such as de burring, chamfering, antirust dip, and packaging during machine time.
