This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. Join our dedicated team of technicians, specialists, and engineers supporting ground systems and test stand facilities at Launch Site One. As a Test Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing and facilitating operational maintenance for our test stands, contributing directly to the safe and reliable operation of rocket engine test systems. Your work will be essential in enabling ground-breaking spaceflight missions. We are seeking someone with strong technical skills, outstanding organization, and a commitment to quality. You should be passionate about spaceflight and excited to work within a fast-paced, interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 0-2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or operational environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise operating or maintaining aerospace, marine, automotive, or other ground support systems (propulsion, pneumatics, cryogenics, avionics, hydraulics, life support, test engineering, launch operations, or configuration management).
  • Previous hands-on experience working with pumps.
  • Unwavering commitment to quality and mission success.
  • Exceptional planning, organization, and coordination skills within real-time operational environments.
  • Strong written, verbal, and digital communication abilities; can communicate effectively from executive leadership to shop floor.
  • Proven ability to work successfully in cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent computer skills; familiar with management/planning software and capable of rapidly learning new tools.
  • Experience using Windchill, Maximo, AutoCAD (or similar tools).
  • Flexibility to support occasional off-shift work schedules.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Familiarity with aerospace pressure systems and structural manufacturing technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Maintenance Development: Develop, plan, and improve maintenance procedures for test stand facilities and ground systems.
  • Create detailed work instructions for complex operational tasks; ensure readiness and clarity before execution.
  • Own work orders throughout their lifecycle: drafting, ensuring readiness, supporting execution, answering questions, and closing/documenting all activities.
  • Assess and resolve issues with ground system operations, serving as the “go-to” resource for the most complex technical challenges.
  • Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: Partner with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to support changes to ground systems and resolve anomalies.
  • Provide technical expertise to engineers and technicians during execution of maintenance and testing activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across operations and engineering teams.
  • Test Stand & Ground System Operations: Gain proficiency in test stand console operations to support system testing.
  • Rapidly prioritize and respond in mission-critical and time-sensitive situations.
  • Documentation & Communication: Ensure rigorous documentation, close-out of work orders, and clear communication at all operational levels.
  • Support a culture of safety, quality, and continuous learning in everything you do.
