About The Position

The Opportunity: As a Maintenance Custodian, you will help create a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for the staff, students, tenants, and visitors who rely on our facilities every day. In this role, you take pride in keeping spaces looking their best and functioning smoothly. You will perform a wide variety of general maintenance, custodial, and grounds‑related tasks. Your work may include commercial cleaning, painting, light patching or spackling, and the operation of industrial cleaning equipment such as carpet vans, shampooers, vacuums, pressure washers, and window‑cleaning tools. Throughout your day, you will clean restrooms, classrooms, apartments, offices, recreational areas, and similar facilities—helping ensure every space is welcoming and well cared for. You will also move and set up heavy items such as furniture, tables, equipment, and cleaning supplies. This is an active, hands‑on position. You should feel comfortable bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing and standing on ladders, and walking or standing for extended periods. Additional Information: This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible. Monthly Salary: $3,417 to $4,542 | Range 38 (Steps A - M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Requirements

  • The ability to do required work and the ability to read and write AND six months experience in custodial, general or building maintenance, grounds keeping, or semi-skilled carpentry, electrical and/or plumbing repair work; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
