This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on electrician who enjoys troubleshooting, maintaining critical building systems, and working across a wide range of voltage environments—from three-phase primary power down to low-voltage controls. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-driven, and brings strong electrical experience in an industrial or facilities setting. Role Overview The Maintenance Electrician will perform electrical-focused maintenance and repair work across the facility, ensuring all work meets NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) compliance standards. This position supports day-to-day work orders, preventative maintenance schedules, and cross-functional facilities initiatives. This is a first-shift, onsite role requiring strong technical skill and consistent execution.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems
  • Proven experience working with both three-phase power and low-voltage control systems
  • Strong troubleshooting ability in a facilities or industrial maintenance environment
  • Commitment to safety, compliance, and quality workmanship
  • Ability to work fully onsite in Decorah, Iowa on a consistent first-shift schedule

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting large institutional or industrial facility infrastructure
  • Familiarity with fire alarm systems, automation controls, generators, or elevator inspections
  • Inventory or shop management experience within a maintenance environment
  • Willingness to support cross-functional facility projects beyond electrical scope

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical maintenance and repair work through the Facilities Services work order system
  • Troubleshoot and service systems ranging from three-phase primary voltages to low-voltage control circuits
  • Ensure all electrical work aligns with NFPA 70 / National Electrical Code standards
  • Interpret schematics, blueprints, manuals, and wiring diagrams to diagnose electrical issues
  • Prepare material lists and coordinate supplies needed for maintenance projects
  • Support inspection and preventative maintenance schedules for systems such as: Fire alarms, Elevators, Building automation systems, Backup generators
  • Assist Boiler Operators with heating plant and boiler-related electrical repairs as needed
  • Collaborate with other Facilities teams including Grounds, Heating Plant, Plumbing, Carpentry, and Moving Services
  • Manage inventory, tools, and supplies for the electrical shop
  • Maintain clean, organized workspaces, equipment, and maintenance vehicles
  • Support seasonal operations including snow removal when required
