About The Position

The Maintenance Engineer plays a key role in keeping theWit’s guest rooms and public spaces in excellent working order, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and memorable experience for guests and team members. This position handles a variety of repair and preventive maintenance tasks during swing and overnight shifts when critical issues often arise.

Requirements

  • Previous maintenance, engineering, or building operations experience; hotel or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and comfort using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work independently on a swing/overnight schedule and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong guest‑service mindset with clear communication skills and professional demeanor.
  • Physically able to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on guest rooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house spaces, including basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical work.
  • Respond quickly and professionally to guest and internal maintenance requests, resolving issues to brand standards and documenting work orders.
  • Troubleshoot and repair items such as lighting, temperature controls, small equipment, and hotel fixtures to minimize downtime.
  • Complete daily rounds and readings as required, reporting any safety hazards or major repair needs to the Chief Engineer.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe, clean, and organized condition, following OSHA and hotel safety procedures.
  • Support emergency procedures (fire, flood, power outage, etc.) and assist with special projects as assigned.
