About The Position

The Maintenance Lead performs a variety of maintenance and upkeep tasks to ensure the smooth operation of all buildings, grounds, vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities include general electrical, plumbing, construction, painting, mechanical and landscaping work, assisting with housekeeping and trash collection, maintaining tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working order. The role may also involve supporting and training seasonal or volunteer staff and maintaining clean, organized work areas.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of maintenance experience
  • High School Diploma or GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Must be able to use equipment and tools and traverse the nearly 200 acres of outdoor, hilly terrain; work in small spaces
  • Must be able to properly lift at least 50 pounds, dig, load, unload, mop and repair camp property
  • Basic computer skills
  • Willingness to learn new software as needed
  • Ability to complete online training and/or continuing education
  • Complete Safe From Harm training and keep current as needed
  • Must have and maintain a current valid driver’s license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR).

Responsibilities

  • General electrical, plumbing, construction, painting, mechanical and grounds work
  • Trash collections
  • Assist with general housekeeping and/or janitorial duties
  • Maintain fleet of vehicles (including boats, golf carts, all-terrain vehicles and tractors) in good operating condition
  • Maintain all maintenance and housekeeping equipment in good operating condition
  • Instruct, mentor and/or train seasonal, temporary, volunteer or new staff in the proper use of equipment and site and facilities procedures
  • Maintain clean and organized work and storage areas
  • Execute operating, safety, and cleaning instructions of all equipment and mechanical systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • The accrual rate is based upon years of service and approved hours worked.
