About The Position

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Supplements the activities of Maintenance Mechanics by assisting with installs, repairs, troubleshooting complex equipment in the facility such as Dematic conveying system, automatic pallet wrapper, case erectors, gear boxes, variable speed drives, pumps and compressors, etc. Performs predictive and preventative maintenance activities as outline in the CMMS system by performing routine Preventive Maintenance (PM) such as inspection and lubrication of chains, sprockets, pulleys, belts, bearings, gears and general gearbox maintenance, including the replacement of oil per PM frequency. Operates equipment as part of troubleshooting, and validation of completed maintenance activity. Documents work and completes reports using CMMS system by reporting truthfully, accurately and timely. Assists with maintaining spare parts inventory for plant and equipment by checking out parts, using parts ordering procedure and restocking inventory. Helps maintain shop areas and parts room so they are clean and orderly. Partners with technical support, Roselle operations group, and peer mechanics to resolve problematic machine or equip ment issues. Actively participates in root cause analysis and other plant continuous improvement initiatives. Recommends and implements continuous improvement ideas. Based on business needs, may perform work in other areas of maintenance, such as building maintenance. Complies with safety and cGMP requirements. Follows (LO/TO) all Safety procedures and wears all personal protective equipment as directed by Company Safety Policy. Effectively provides and accepts constructive peer-to-peer feedback on safety performance. Adheres to policies, procedures, SOP’s, safe work practices, and safety policies and procedures. Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school OR a minimum of two years related experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General knowledge of machine troubleshooting, electrical, mechanical, fabrication, pneumatics, hydraulics, OSHA standards, cGMP’s, lock-out/tag-out is required.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and ability to repair packaging and processing production equipment within one year from the date of employment.
  • Knowledge of machine capabilities, manufacturing process, and ability to troubleshoot.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently meet quality, safety and efficiency goals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills required.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills; ability to prioritize and calmly handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment; demonstrate a strong sense of urgency; independent thinker with the ability to make sound decisions; initiative to complete tasks on time with minimal supervision; and flexibility to change tasks frequently and work in different work centers as business needs require.

  • Willingness to learn and increase technical depth through attending workshops, reviewing technical manuals, or OEM supplied training.
  • General knowledge of tools and voltage meter.
  • Ability to work other shifts and weekends and to travel to other facilities.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms (including overhead), including reaching horizontally on a ladder; ascend and/or descend stairs (including ladders); stoop, kneel (including half kneel), crouch, and crawl; and talk and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must regularly lift, move (in some cases drag items), slide, raise and/or place: Lift up to 60 lbs. from 31-inch shelf and carry for up to 5 ft. and then return 60 lbs. to 31 inch surface. Lift up to 60 lbs. floor to waist height. Push and pull 42 lb. force at 36 inches. Step on/off a 24-inch step. Grasp 50 lbs. of force.
